CONTACTING OTHER SUPPORTERS
To make contact with others who have had experience of the biased LGO, or who are campaigning
to abolish this institution, please join the Anti-LGO Forum at http://www.amv3.com/forum , and
post your message there. Before doing so, please read the information below carefully.
The Local Government Ombudsman Watch website has the purpose of disseminating information
about systemic maladministration and bias at the Local Government Ombudsman’s office. It is run
by me (Gary Powell) on a completely voluntary basis, in the public interest, with no external
funding, and the amount of time I have available to maintain the website is very limited. There are
also occasional e-bulletins; if you would like to be added to the e-bulletin list, please send me an
e-mail.
The campaign is associated with several hundred supporters nationwide. The main vehicle for
making contact with other opponents of the LGO is the anti-LGO Forum at http://www.amv3.
com/forum , which you are invited to join.
May I respectfully request that you do not email LGOWatch with information and ideas: these really
need to be shared with the wider anti-LGO community. Putting them on the Forum will be an ideal
way to do this.
If you do not wish to reveal your identity on the Forum, which is public, then you do not need to do
so, though it seems to me to be good form to sign postings with a genuine first name.
On the Forum, you can share your experiences of injustice with those who may have suffered
similar, express views about the LGO service, and possibly make contact with people who are able
to offer some advice and support regarding your problems. You can also respond to other
people's messages, and make suggestions with regard to how the campaign to abolish the LGO
might be progressed.
Go to http://www.amv3.com/forum and click on the Register button, top right. If you have any
problems joining, you can send a message to the Forum Owner at this e-mail address.
The Forum is entirely independent from LGOWatch, and it cannot automatically be assumed that
opinions expressed and statements made there have the endorsement of LGOWatch. Please bear
in mind that the LGO Forum has very probably been infiltrated by LGO staff, or people feeding
information back to them, so do not publish anything on it you would not want to get back to the
LGO.
Please do not to e-mail LGOWatch with requests for help, or for comment on your complaint or
experience of the local council/ Local Government Ombudsman. Unfortunately, it is simply not
possible for me to meet these needs. In addition, I am not qualified to give individual advice on
matters of law and local government administration, and professional advice should always be
sought instead. I am simply an individual who was so appalled after dealing with the LGO and
discovering from this experience what a biased outfit it is, that I set up a website to expose the lies,
bias, spin-doctoring and injustice. Having had first-hand experience of the LGO with a very
harrowing case, I have every sympathy with people who in the past have contacted me with
appalling accounts of how they had been treated; but it is very difficult for me to find adequate
time to read the many accounts sent to me with the attention they deserve, and to respond in an
appropriate way. Instead, please use the Forum to make contact with others, and please consider
sharing your experience there, where it is possible you may get some helpful advice from other
members.
Please remember that, just because I have set up a website, it does not mean that I am responsible
for solving the LGO problem. I did not create the problem of the biased LGO, and I am not
responsible for fixing it. There needs to be a mass campaign if the LGO is to be reformed or
abolished. I am not responsible for organising that campaign. Neither am I responsible for
correcting other people’s experience of injustice, as much as I abhor injustice and am often deeply
saddened and angered when I hear how people have been betrayed, first by the council, and then
by the LGO. It is not possible for me to telephone or meet with enquirers, or to enter into e-mail
correspondence with them. The best I can do is to build on the work I have done since 2003 in
attempting to expose the LGO, and continue to maintain this website and send out e-bulletins. In
order to make contact with others, or ask for advice, or share your experience, please join the
Forum instead.
Finally, it is important to note that LGOWatch is not the Local Government Ombudsman - how
people can make that mistake is beyond me, but very occasionally they do - and that I do not
provide any general information about any ombudsman services. If you are intending to complain
to the Local Government Ombudsman, click here for their contact details.
If you currently are in dispute with your local council, or the Local Government Ombudsman, I
hope that your complaint results in a just and fair outcome.
